Today is Feb 4; it is not March 23, which is recognized as National Lucky Penny Day… but today is the last day for the Canadian Penny to be circulated as currency. Due to rising prices to make the coin/ penny [1¢], it is not being official phased out. Now companies across Canada are rounding their prices to the nearest nickel [5¢] when cash transactions are made. Prices done through cards (debt, credit, etc) will remain the same for now.
